Honestly the only thing that would have made a difference in that situation was chaining that bike to that light pole right? Even two disk brake locks would have been useless with two guys picking it up.

Society should offer up high dollar bounties on thieves.

as many bike thefts that do occur i'm amazed that everyone can afford to have insurance.

I couldn't/wouldn't afford full coverage on my liter bike. It had theft, hail, fire , etc. and coverage for any damage other than a wreck.

                        600cc, alot - 1000cc, double that.

Collision is the expensive part. Liability will be cheap, ~$200/yr, add everything you can except collision, might be ~$600/yr, add collision and it will be ~$2,500/yr.

For those looking to aruge, save it. I don't care about your specific policy, speaking in generalities here.

                          depends on the category

My Buell is $600 a year for full coverage with Geico. They throw all the Buells into the same category regardless of power level. It varies massively by how popular the bikes are and how many get crashed and stolen. An R1 with a 25 year old male would probably be close to $4k a year and if it gets stolen from an apartment complex and wasn't locked in a garage don't expect to get it covered.

damn, my shit is only $540 for a full year full coverage. when i wrecked out they paid everything no questions asked(had the HD dealership fix it) and even paid for a new pair of gloves. the bike damage alone was $3200
