How big of a guy are you? Those bikes are great for beginners as long as you are not too big.

$700 is decent for most anything that is running.

Dont waste your time. You will outgrow that in a day or two. Those are made for kids. Those things are very slow and made for somebody 5' and under maybe. Look for a 125 two stroke big bike there are plenty out there and the are cheap.

You will be fine for a while with it then. If you got him down to $700 on the phone.. chances are you could walk away with it for 5 or 600.

I just sold a 2003 TTR125 small wheel that needed nothing for $750. They don't have any resale value. They are simple to maintain and last forever - They are great little bikes, but slow as hell.

damn dude if you are wanting a fun around bike take a couple more days and find something that will be FUN to ride. The suspension is weak on those, the tires suck, it has NO power....look for something a bit bigger. If you can tolerate mixing the gas find yourself a used KDX200. I see them pop up all the time for under a grand...the 94-up KDX200's were the same until they quit making them around 2008. FAR better bike with a lot more power and you won't get bored with it.

For your average trail riding although any of those WOULD work...keep in mind that those are motocross racing bikes and unless you keep them in the powerband they dont have much torque and most of them are beat to shit. Having ridden both 125 MX bikes and KDX's I think you'd enjoy the extra torque, reliability, and better gearing of a KDX.

I had a 230, and it was underpowered and had piss-poor suspension. However, it was a shit ton of fun to play around on and I'm glad that I didn't jump right into a 250 or 450 for my first dirtbike. And I got what I paid for it minus mods & maintenance.

Having said that, a 125 is too small for anyone with any previous riding experience. An older DRZ400 might ibe just the trick. Cheap but reasonably capable.

I don't disagree that a KDX200 would be a good bike and holds it's value pretty well... If you can get this one for $900.. go do it right now.

                            You won't find a good drz400 under $1k

                            a ttr125 is like buying a 93 gt with a 302 and 125 2 stroke is like buying the same car with a fresh 306 and a 100 shot
