  • New exhaust on the RC

I'll try to post better pictures later, but for now you get the idea.

Its a Sato Racing carbon fiber Banzai system that I bought used from eGhey. I dropped a canned tune from Dan Kyle into the power commander and man what a difference. From the dynos I've seen its 4-6 more hp to the ground. The bike feels faster, but even better it seems to rev a lot smoother and quicker! Overall it was worth the money IMO. And the noise is great. Down low its pretty noisey (good for pissing off the neighbors), but at cruising speeds/rpm its really not that loud!

As a side note, I cleaned up the tail a little bit too so the exhaust would fit. Also I added a throttlemeister. I have black shorty levers and a dark smoke double bubble in the mail. Once that stuff gets here, then I'm pretty much done with mods. I may switch it to MotoGP shift, but the jury is still out on that.

            Good choice, sick bike!

Back before I got my 954 I was thinking about getting an RC to street fighter and use for my highway stunt bike. I wanted something different, and liked the big-ass wide tank on them. The deal-breaker was that there were no cages available, and the side radiators scarred me.

Love the way that bike looks as it sits, but the levers and windscreen will only help. I never liked GP shift, personally.

Looks awesome, I wanna hear it!

My bike is GP, but it's all personal preference. With Suzuki you can flip it without buying anything. Wouldn't you have to purchase rearsets to do it? $$$

I don't typically get tired of my bikes. I usually end up selling them bc of money issues. I'd still have my 954RR if it wasn't for hard times after starting my business back in '09. I loved that bike and didn't want to give it up, but it was a necessity at the time.

The RC51 is THE bike that I've wanted for a long time. It has pretty much been my "dream machine" since I started riding. I remember drooling over them at the dealership when they were new. When Honda released the black color scheme I knew one day I'd have one.

I started to get the itch to ride earlier this year and told myself that I would either by an RC or just not buy anything at all. I considered another 954, but the RC is where my heart was. After owning several other v twins, I grew to be a v twin nut hugger... lol.

I finally got the bike I wanted... and unless money becomes an issue, then I have no intention of selling it.

Nope. Just get a shift lever from a VFR or 1100XX. Remove the stock linkage from my bike and bolt the new lever directly to the shaft for the RC. Per the website you can do it with the stock linkage too, but after talking to a buddy of mine he sold me on just buying the lever.

BTW it sounds great! Even my Dad, who doesn't like motorcycles, likes the new pipes.

The one for sale on here is good deal. The exhaust on that bike is money! You wouldn't be disappointed and the price is about average. I think I saw where he said he would take $4k. For me that's a great price. I paid $5k and mine had more miles on it, but it was what I wanted!

I prefer the 02+ (SP2) only because they have a few extra things that the SP1 didn't. Not to mention the SP2 makes a little more power thanks to revised FI and throttle bodies.

How hot do the pipes get at the back? Those rear turn signals are awful close to the pipe and I wonder if they will deal with the heat....those RC's get DAMN HOT!!!!!!!

The left one doesn't really get to hot. The right does get pretty f'in hot though. I was able to do a little research earlier and the slip-ons seem to be titanium with a carbon fiber cover. The mid pipes are also titanium. Point being is that the system does get hot, but at the same time the titanium and carbon fiber disipate heat pretty well. Hopefully its enough that the signals won't melt. I left as much of a gap as possible but its not much (maybe a little more than 1/4"). I'm not the first person to do this set up and I haven't read about anyone melting theirs. If the bike is moving, then it shouldn't be a problem.

If it does melt, then I have an idea that I'm going to borrower from a guy on youtube. I'll buy a controller for a trailer and wire it up to flash the brake lights when I use my signal. Fast forward to 2:35 for the part I'm talking about.

Damn that dude in the video did his research!!! That looks fantastic and works great. Not sure its 100% legal having integrated turn signals like that...but if the inspector passes it and the cops don't fuck with you...thats what I would do.
