I would ride the PISS out of that.

I'm really really wanting to make a cafe out of a late model liter bike. In my mind I want a liter, but then again it would make more sense $$$ to do it with whatever cheap late model sportbike I come across no matter the price.

Really dated sportbikes would be an easier platform to start with, late 90's early 00's R1, ZX9 etc. Not sure how hard it would be to find spokes for one of those.

I'm gonna be a faggot here, but I would rather get something new and fuel injected to start with.

Been a long time since I've looked at 10 year old bikes. Did a quick craigslist search, everyone with a late 90's to early 00's liter wants the same or close to what you could get an 06 liter for.

Feel bad for 'em, poor fuckers, LOL

Looks like it started life as an early 80's CB750F or CB900F super sport. Do a little searching and you can find them by the dozens laying in peoples back yards and barns...hell I've seen people almost give them away on craigslist.

Thats not being a faggot anymore. Reliable as fuck, easy to work on, no jets to clean, no sticking floats to leave a puddle under the bike, easier to tune and adapt to mods. No more syncing the carbs, no more choke. Considering what a bitch it was to take off and rebuild the carbs on my CB1000, V45 and V65 Magna (especially a pain in the ass)....EFI on bikes is one of the best things to ever happen to motorcycles IMHO.

Geez if you were gonna chop up a CX500 or 650 you should've done it to a turbo so at least you could show off the turbocharger.

The turbo was too rich for my blood, I bought that thing from an auction sale.

I was just bustin your chops. Don't see many CX's period...the fact that you chose to build a custom CX tells me either you were broke as shit and that was all you could find...or you wanted something WAY different. One of my dads old riding buddies had an early 80's fully faired Silverwing and I always thought it was kinda cool with that strangely positioned motor. Definitely had a unique sound to it.

Guilty on both counts. I did love the full fairing turbo cx when I was a kid. I always thought the cx had a cool motoguzzi look and I absolutely loved the sound.

edit: oh, and it was a 500, slow as shit. It even died and side stepped on me once at 80mph. After that and my maxim doing the same, I'm not a fan of shaft drive. lol
