First time on a 450

I rode the shit out of them bikes. Rebuilt the 86 like 5 times over 4 years because I started blowing up pistons. Hell my friend and I rode 2-3 times a week. Had Wells racing re sleave it and never had another issue. I even had the head milled a tad bit and it was bad ass. Was really really funny to see someone else get on it. Every single time they almost flipped it over backwards or came off the back. I remember they did a 1/4 mile race one time and I believe the KX500 beat a ZX11 in the quarter mile after they weighted the front down. I have my KFX700R to keep me happy for now but thats what the wife rides and shes almost done with school. I may get out to Shady on friday it needs to be rode.

That thing would lift up in 5th gear without using the clutch like it was nothing. Its quite fun to be tearing across an open field in the grass and then look over at the interstate beside the field and realize you are going a LOT faster than the cars....and your in 4th gear!! I could never ride a 500 2 stroke in trails....I would be dead or the bike would be in pieces. But DAMN I love the power when theres room to get on the pipe.

As much as I loved them my next bike will prob be a Kawa 450 with electric start(getting old).

I stuck with my 2 stroke RMX250 and then my beloved KDX200..claiming that 4 strokes were too heavy and yada yada yada for several years until I actually rode my buddies DRZ400 and used that nice electric start. Of course I will always hop on a 2 stroke and play when offered to me...but I don't think I could go back to kickstart after owning my DRZ.

I was wondering today how much I'd be compromising in terms of power and suspension if I went with a model with e-start. It always seemed like too much of a compromise, and that they were essentially trail bikes.

Not that much from what my Kawa guy told me. I little weight, a little detune, and the suspension is the same or it was a year ago. Just going off what he told me. Unless you are going to be racing supercross I would go electric start.

I plan on getting a new bike in August...probably going with the CRF450 but I do like the looks of the new KX450F. I have a very low hour (17hrs) 09 YZ450F for sale if anyone is interested.

Haha, as of now. Maybe I will have some extra scrilla for a bike now.
I love riding 450's but the maintenance on two strokes is so much easier.
