We picked up a 2007 Honda Rancher 400 AT 4x4 last weekend. We practically stole it for what we paid.
When we got it.. it needed tires, one of the CV boots was busted, it topped out at 39 MPH in AT and 34 MPH in ESP mode.
I have done the following to it and it will now run 43 mph in both AT and ESP and feels much stronger ( and this is after the larger tires and lift).
Reset ECM
Oil/Spark plug/ Air filter cleaning ( K&N)
CV boot replace
2" lift kit
CV boot guards
26" Mudlite XL tires
Random nuts and bolts
New rear brake pads
Still need to:
adjust valves
replace front bumper and middle skid plate (should come today)
bleed front brakes
