  • Going to Lake Murray/Red River for 1st time... got questions.

We plan to head up with a few friends on Saturday the 25th. What is required to ride their?

Helmets ( we would wear anyway)
    OHV stickers?
    Anything else?

As of right now none of us have been there. We are all looking for trail type riding.

Any advice on places to go? The group so far consists of a Honda 250 (4 stroke) dirtbike, Suzuki DS 350 dual purpose bike, a 4x4 fourwheeler, and a 2x4 utility fourwheeler.

as far as places to go, there's only one campground where you can ride. and you dont need anything to ride as far as stickers...

I guess that makes it easy.

Just a helmet and money. It's also illegal to ride 2 up at Murray unless the ATV is designed for it, otherwise you unload and ride to the gate and pay. Red River is a little more formal in that you need to check in at the house by the gate.

Let me know how it works out there. I would like to make a weekend trip up there with the RZR and some dirt bikes. But I need a place with hook ups to park the hauler.

Murray gets very busy on the weekends but since it's a state park it might as well be a KOA campground. Tons of paved campsites with hookups but I've gotten there at 7pm on a Friday and they were all full. It's first come first served.

Not sure how RV parking works at Bulcher though, last time I was out there I didn't see any hookups.

Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department's comprehensive site containing travel information, attractions, lodging, dining, and events.

TxTracks.com is the most comprehensive map of motocross tracks and atv trails in Texas. Over 100 riding areas are listed. Included on the map are motocross tracks and trails for dirt bikes, atvs, trucks and dune buggies.

Which one would be better for beginners? I want to take my 13 year old son who is very new to dirt bikes.

                          Lake Murray= 1,000 acres
Red River Atv Park (Ok side)= 500 acres
Red River Motorcycle Park ( Bulcher)= 2700 acres

Which is better for a group with ATVs and Dirtbikes? The dirtbike riders are more interested in trails than racetracks.

Marshall Creek, it's a whole lot closer and even the "expert" trail is pretty tame. The trails are all one way and clearly marked and they also have an MX track and a practice jump area.

Lake Murray would be better for a beginner than Bulcher in my opinion, though not nearly as fun.

We have been to Marshall Creek twice and he did great on the trails. He is not interested in jumping. Which makes the wife happy. But he does like trails. Thanks!
