A friend of mine was riding with a group yesterday and when they pulled over for fuel Irving's finest pulled in and started hassling them. He ended up going to jail for an "illegal lane change" and not having current tags. He actually has a plate on the bike and surprisingly they let his wife load the bike up instead of towing it.

If you are on a sport bike and aren't 100% legal I don't recommend stopping anywhere in Dallas county right now. The PD are getting even.

So, now you can go to jail for not using your blinker?

Is it still "no pursuit" in DFW?

Now? In Texas you can be arrested for any violation. The no signal is the reason the officer used for detaining the group, the arrests were for missing registration tags and/or missing plates.

Generally it's a ticket or even a warning but if you are on a sport bike you'll probably go to jail. I'm staying out of Dallas county if I'm on 2 wheels for a while.

varies from city to city. i know bedford has an informal no chase policy, but that's kind of open ended and up to the officer / dispatch / supervisor when the call comes out.

I had no idea... I figured you weren't able to get arrested for a simple traffic violation.

If i'm running around in my car with expired tags, i'm not thinking about getting arrested.

It's just annoying because people are let go all damn day for no insurance in a vehicle ><

I know if they have knowledge of you committing a felony they will chase, wasn't sure of misdemeanor though. Whatevs, I hardley do anything illegal anymore, but I barely ever stop, the times I did, cops always thanked me.

Yup. I got away with shit way more times by stopping quickly than i ever did by running. Plus who wants a felony charge for a fucking speeding ticket? not i. it always cracked me up when they asked why i didn't run. my shit's legal... should I have?
