I don't see who started it and decided to stop traffic.

I think seeing 600 bikes traveling down the highway is impacting in itself. Would be better to have a large cruise through DFW and then meet up and a lot that can handle the bikes.

It started at ROC 6yrs ago, when after a wreck, the whole pack stopped to help pick the rider and his bike up and a couple of guys started doing circles. Since then, it's been a planned thing and a part of the ride.

I wasn't there, but bases on the vids I saw, NO WAY 600 bikes. 150 is my guess. Channel 8 is full of shit.

I never had to sit through one but if traffic came to a dead stop I would be fucking livid to find out some knuckle heads were screwing around on the highway.

I get pissed when traffic slows down to 30mph because a cop has someone pulled over on the shoulder, let alone 600 bikes....

I was in the back of a med unit the other day headed to the hospital with a guy that had been stabbed twice. I had to ride because he was a big ole guy and combative at first. Half away to the hospital they lost him once and he came back. They made it to the hospital just in time and he barely made it. Had they ran into this little mess that guy would have probably died. You know I am a big fan of bikes but there comes a time when people need to realize their actions could cause someones death. There actually was a regular accident and we had to hit the shoulder and bounce along for a mile but there was still movement enough for us to make it.

This raises a good off topic question. Where can I find bike auctions?

Plates tucked, blinkers, lights, warrants, stolen bikes, stolen motors, low tread on the tire, you name it. You really think there is some good reason to shut down the highway, graffiti the ground, and hold up thousands of people? I have rode sport bikes all my life and guys rolling around acting stupid in low numbers or by themselves really doesnt bother me much. Orrr in an area with low traffic or no traffic, maybe even a parkinglot on the weekend. But shutting down a major highway and acting like idiots will only allow them to push more laws thru against all bikers and find ways to deal with them.
FWIW these guys come from all over the country for these rides and the others around the country. There were people from both coasts, midwest, pacific northwest, Florida, etc.

I don't blame the cops for not doing more. You've got 100-150 guys that are the lunatic fringe of motorcycling. Almost all of them are going to run. It's not as if the police have infinite resources. How many officers would it take to A) stop them B) interevene without causing mass chaos on the freeways??? What would happen when 50, 100, 200??? officers are off the streets they patrol all tied up trying to write traffic tickets, then how long would that whole deal snarl up traffic? Hours possibly? What would happen if even 50 of those guys run and say 10 crashed into innocent passersby. Considerable amount of liability there. Seems like the cops decided the juice wasn't worth the squeeze.

I do think it will be a victim of it's own popularity. The ride here in Dallas is once a year and stops for about two minutes. Think about it, two minutes of delay in an entire year, on one stretch of freeway in a sprawling metropolis, and you get people on the wfaa page and youtube talking about murdering people.

The hell of it is, is that most of those fools didnt even know Jeremy (crash).Yet they are showing "respect" for him? yeah right. I hope Karma pays them a visit sometime. There will be a time where they will have an emergency or something and they will have to wait until the idiots are done being idiots......
Most of these guys just join in for the hooliganism. I bet half of the guys came from out of state.

Irresponsible behavior behind the wheel leads to wrecks, traffic delays and innocent people getting hurt/killed everyday, but people really seem to focus on this one annual event, which hasn't hurt anyone. Fact. The potential is there, but on all of the big rides I've been on throughout the past 10yrs, I've yet to see it cause an accident, yet alone cause an innocent person to get hurt.

The older I get the less involved with the stunt scene I am, but I still can't hate on these guys for doing what they do. We still do it during ROC, and I'll go on that ride every year I am physically capable of riding.

It'll be interesting to see what comes of this.
Well, no innocent uninvolved people have been hurt

People get thrown for a loop when there is a mass-rebellion to the machine.

I heard this year's turnout was a lot smaller than last year's. From the sounds of it 150 is generous.

You know, this would probably turn into a real shit storm, but there has been bigish ride where the riders let an ambulance through. If cops loaded up like messicans in a couple ambulances the riders would likely let them through and they could bail out and begin to shut things down all trojan-horse style. Might get pretty wild initially though.

THey should all be shot in the head, their bikes sold, and the money given to charities.

If that is the case they will most likely put an end to any "large" motorcycle meets. Then everyone will be shouting about how the police are Nazi's and they are out of line blah blah.

Npa in Carrolton is the only bike specific option in this region of the country. Otherwise you're just trying your luck at the impound auctions.
