I went out and got another sportbike. It rides really well but i knew the rear tire was getting thin and sure enough, ive got a white stripe..Ive always liked the michelin pilot powers as they did well on my last one. The bike has dunlops on it now, should I replace the rear with a dunlop or nut up for a pair of michelins or others? What tires have you guys had good experiences with?

What did you wind up buying?
I'm a fan of michelin pilot powers and power 2 ct.
I think i was going to love the pilot power pures but never got to find out .
I did not like the pilot roads, but the pilot road 2 seems much better and seem to be a good road tire.
bridgestone, dunlop and pirelli all have pretty good options but i've never used them.www.hppmotorsports.com

I bought an older r1. My neighbor offered it up for a steal. BONE stock never been down, no miles etc...still has the warning stickers on it from 01! My cheap ass side is saying to buy a rear as theres nothing wrong with the front, ( no miles) not weatherbeaten as its been garage kept. The other part of me says nut up and buy the michelins...decisions, decisions...Ring and pinion specialist

Dunlop Q2 on my 04 R1 and I love them. My bike has a 1 down front sprocket, full exhaust, power commander, velocity stacks, and some other shit and I rarely spin the rear. They hold great in the corners and feel very predictable.
I would suggest that you run a 190/55 rear, it feels so much better than the stock 190/50.

DO you need an Icon leather jacket or a rear stand for it? I just sold my street bike and went back to dirt, so my street stuff is for sale

Most Texas road and riders won't need something like a power pure. It's overkill and an unnecessary expense.
The original pilot powers are pretty cheap now and plenty capable for 99.9% of Texas street riders. If you're chewing up the edges of the tires you should be on a race track anyways.
Anyways, you'll be fine on any top tier street tire from a reputable company.
Bt003s are really popular with the track day crowd, supercorsas, q2s, pp, pp2ct, pures, are all good tires, can't go wrong.US Politics in three words - Divide and Conquer

I agree that we dont need pures here and there are many cheaper tires that are just about as capable.

I just picked up a Metzler Sportec M1 for my Rear, I bought my ZX6r with a worn out Dunlop on it. The bike alread had the Sportec M1 front and I liked the way it handled so I got a matching one for the back.
No complaints, just as predictable as the other tire was in the turns. Have no idea the mileage on it. paid 146.00 from Motorcyclesuperstore.
Tread looks like it should have no problem in wet weather, viens criss/crossing all over it.

The Pures used a softer compound on the outer 40% of each side of the rear tire. Compounds and percentages are different for the fronts.
