  • Decent mig welder for body work that won't break the bank

Any suggestions for a 120V light duty welder that can be used on body panels? Don't want to spend a fortune on one, as it will only be used occasionally.

Miller 211 out of the question? Miller has a $200/$400 rebate going on: http://store.cyberweld.com/mi211migwewi.html

      Lincoln 140

I've got a Miller and Hobart but I like the Lincoln arc better.

Something like that may be doable if I can find it used. The office for a new one is outside of the budget though. Btw how's the frozen wasteland treating you?!? You need to stop playing in the snow and come home so you can weld this stuff for me!

I guess a stick welder isn't going to do a good job on thin panels right? It'll burn through to easy? I have a little experience stick and mig welding but am far from good at it.

The Lincoln 140 is a good welder, get it with gas though. Flux core will blow holes into sheet metal. I use a Miller 150 and it does great, probably more welder than what you're looking for though.

This has actually been a pretty mild winter except for the storm we had a couple weeks ago. I might be home late October, but I just applied for the Operations Manager position. If I get that I will have to do a summer contract too.... then move to Denver. Less than ideal, but a great career move considering I was just a mechanic last season. If that doesn't go through, I will be home in October for good.

And just so you know, I don't have a lot of experience welding. As a matter of fact I just bought my first welder (the Miller 211) with their current rebates.

Well I bought a cheap flux core welder. If it sucks to use my friend has a Snap On Muscle Mig I can use.
