I'm redoing the wheels on my old truck. 15" rally wheels. I'm not an autobody guy and I don't have professional materials and equipment. What I have is rattle cans. I bought the Rustoleum etching primer, and their "Wheel" paint. But for the life of me I can't find their "Wheel clear". I can order it online, but I'd rather get done and not have to wait.
Should I just get Rustoleum's regular old high gloss clear coat? Something like that 2x coverage stuff they sell. Would that be able to take the punishment of being on a wheel? I do want to do high gloss, cause I like a bit of bling on the wheels. If you can call it that. I want to draw some attention to the fact that I've redone them. I've always liked glossy wheels for some reason.
Here is their wheel clear coat:
Here is the paint I bought: (mine is a brighter silver color though)
So should I just use this clearcoat:
or this?
or maybe this?
Or would all those be a bad idea? Some of these rattle cans seem to be designed to work as a system, if you read the back. I could go to the autobody paint supply store and get some of that rattle can clear with the hardener built into the bottom, but I'm just not sure if that would play well with Rustoleum's "Wheel Paint" and the flash times that it recommends.
