I use Dawn like they recommend before getting started and like I stated Meguires or any carwash soap will work after the Zaino treatment.

Just use the Dawn on the body of the car and rinse after doing a few panels at a time.

Most likely any car wash soap is good to use after Zaino is applied. I wrote Zaino an email asking if a car wash (drive thru type) would be bad on the Zaino finish, he said no, it should be good to go (I knew the Ford dealership would wash it after a service call even tho I asked them NOT too!).

With ZFX, you don't have to use Z1 to make it bond the first time. Once a coat of Z2 has been applied with ZFX added, you can do up to I think 3 coats in 24 hours. Without it, like if you use Z1, then Z2, I think you have to do 1 coat of Z2 and wait. Each coat of Z2 makes it look deeper, it's crazy how it actually does too!

I put Zaino on in January, just ran mu car thru the wash bay (yes, a drive thru $5 wash!) and the water still beads like nobodies business! Shit lasts a good while, but I'll probably add another coat or two in a month or so.

How many coats? I was only able to put two on the first time after all of the above, but hope to add more in the next few weekends.

2 coats. I didn't mix up enough to put three on, and was short on time. As long as it isn't cold in the garage, it'll dry usually in 30-45 minutes. Wipe it off, add another!

I've used my wife's DD to check out durability of Zaino and was amazed that water was still beading after almost a full year. None of the other wax/polish I've used even comes close.

I'm pretty sure any good quality soap will work fine with Zaino, but I only used Z6/Z7 while I had Zaino on the cars and they are good quality wash and QD. Certainly didn't hurt the durability.

I don't think it's going to hurt anything using Dawn to prep the paint for the first time, I just wouldn't use it regularly.

Definitely use ZFX unless you don't mind waiting hours for the coats to bond.
