  • Thinking of starting detail business

I'm thinking of starting a detail business, but am a little worried about the risks if not making any money! Anyone have any insight?

Keep your current job and do it on the side until you decide to make the full time move.

              What happened to Nick?

Good luck on the new adventure. Its scary to take the leap, but if you know your shit, you will do good. Just dont expect to get rich next week. Even making what you do on a normal basis and calling it your own is well worth it.

Was thinking of starting as mobile detailing to get my name out there and build a clientele base before a monthly cost of a lease. Was also planning on getting a handful of appointments together for cheap details for website pictures. Before and after swirl removals, washes, etc.

If you don't have a website, get one built with your services, pictures, etc before doing anything else. Social Media is your best friend. Remember, people like pictures/videos and that is what sells.

Also, if you haven't... I HIGHLY suggest Renny Doyle's "How to start a detailing business" if you are thinking about taking the plunge. Tons of info in there to help you understand and not under sell yourself/services that will help you tremendously.

What type of services are you looking at offering? How long have you been doing this? Are you motivated?

Good luck buddy. In a market where there are a ton of highly skilled detailers in DFW, it's tough. Just remember, your name rolls off with every car.
