Is vacation time negotiable at all levels or just C levels?

    Is vacation time negotiable at all levels or just C levels?

    My current place of employment has tons of PTO, far more than you're typically two weeks. While I don't expect any company to come close, it would be nice to at least get 3 weeks right off the bat. Then if the PTO increases after X number of years, to get an additional week.

    I've never negotiated vacation time but when the time comes, I'm going to miss 7+ weeks of time off. So, do companies ever negotiate vacation for the normal worker bee?

    I've successfully negotiated vacation time. At my previous employer I had 4 weeks per year, and I was able to "transfer" it over to my new job. My current employer starts at 1 week off and 2 sick days. A lot of people were pissed when they found out about what I did, but fuck em. It never hurts to try.

      Yeah I have 1 week more than is standard where I am at now and negotiated that at hire. With that said, some companies will and some wont - as mentioned, it never hurts to try.

      Especially if your asking for a higher pay rate than you really want and negotiate vacation in place of it.

      IMHO, if you work 50+ a week - 3 weeks are minimum needed. 40-50 2 weeks minimum. 1 Week is just not...practical for most people.

          that's good to hear...Just wanted to make sure I wasn't laughed at while being escorted off the premises - LOL.

          Technically we get 3 weeks vacation... but we also get Spring Break, Winter break, and Thanksgiving break, as well as 5 state days...not to mention the usual school holidays. It's nice, but when it's time to bolt....it's time to bolt.
