      You bitch about your job more than anyone I know. Make a change. Any change. You may take a pay cut for 6 months or so, but it will pay dividends in the long run.

              the pacific northwest and the dakotas arent part of the BN system-wide seniority? if so I would avoid those areas.

                My brother made 6 figures his second year with BNSF before dues and I'm sure he wasn't on the phone bitching about sitting on his ass all the time. If you can handle draconian safety rules and don't mind working every holiday and not being able to plan anything on the weekends you probably won't find a better paying job. Outside of oil field/rig work that is, which is even worse since you live on site for weeks at a time.

                  What about after dues? I wouldn't mind being home a little more. I just don't want to live off less than 150k

                        Well, he said it took him until his second year to hit 6 figures before dues. Doesn't sound like you'd be hitting 150k after dues anytime soon. Choo Choo money isn't that much.

                          It's not like you start on January 1st and immediately get on a train. You have to learn all the regulations and put seat time in a simulator.

                          I get it that you guys are making fun of someone and deservedly so but considering the average salary for a high school graduate is around $35k with basically no benefits BNSF seems pretty competitive.

                              Its decent money with a crappy schedule, but going thru my facebook of all the friends I knew in high school that went to a 4yr school and got a degree, out of 100 or so I can count on one hand who makes more than me. Then again if I ever get fired I got no backup plan. But no student loans so i'll get some then lol.
