  • Time to brag on my son..

I usually do not post personal stuff, but I am really proud of my son.
My son who is a junior in high school has been preparing to get into West Point since he was 12. Today we got an email confirming that he got into West Points SLE program this summer. I know he his not guaranteed a spot after graduation, but this is a big step for him to get in. This really means alot to him and a big proud moment for my wife and I.

Awesome...but, a future in the US military isnt as promising as it once was given the current political climate. But congrats as it's quite difficult to get into West Point.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

I do agree with you Dr. Downer, but he is looking at it as a way of a getting a good education (that he does not have to pay for) and a chance to get med school paid for. He does not want to make a career out of it, just a good stepping stone in life.

Didnt see any white text...and I disagree with your downer implication. Just merely stating the truth.

Junior officers make considerably more than their civilian counterparts, all else being equal. It's a good path to take, imo, especially in the short term.

Good for him, he'll have tons of options available to him. Even the top MBA programs love West Point grads - we had a handful in my class but at places like Harvard they comprise a significant portion of the class. Again, congratulations to him.
