Roanoke PD hiring

I know Dodge's are POS for the most part, but I just figured Dodge would have at least upgraded the critical powertrain and electric components for the very hard duty cycles of police vehicles in the Chargers, etc. Bummer a lot of departments got stuck with with a crappy car that wouldn't hold up over the long haul.

I think the new Caprice cars are going to be pretty sweet and probably the most durable cars over the long haul. I think the Ecoboost are nice, but honestly, it's an AWD, twin turbo V6 powertrain. It just flat won't hold up as well over 100-200k miles like a plain jane pushrod 16 valve 6.0L/6A RWD Caprice. Though they are about as plain and boring on the outside as possible, but I guess that's fine for a police vehicle.

I can see why I see police Tahoe's all over the place due to the very comfy drive and tons of interior room. Also, the 5.3 is a rock solid engine.

We have the Ford Explorers. The AWD is nice. We got in a couple of Taurus' but sent them back because it didn't seem to have a lot of room.

I am not used to driving an suv so I wouldn't know the difference on duty. The Taurus seems to have more room than the charger and crown vic I drove prior. We are also looking at getting some explorers as far as i've been told.

The Tahoe's I drove in the past handled very nice even at high speeds. We are getting three Explorers(?) pretty quick and they look like scaled down Tahoe's. I swear they are calling them something other then Explorers though. I sat in it and screwed around with it a bit, it was nice. Nothing like the old Ford SUVs that were like driving floating turds. I will say the Tahoe's like to blow up batteries and motor mounts. They are also harder on tires but man they drive fantastic.

Yep hit the brakes and gas it. Clunk in drive is drivers and in reverse its passenger or the opposite. LOL

Ok the date was updated for another test date. We are now hiring 3 from the previous 2. Our last test so far has yielded no worthy candidates. Please, if u apply, do not lie or leave anything off. They will find it. Roanoke is very thorough on there backgrounds and references.

Give me shout if u have any questions or whether ur background would be an issue. The PT is something I get asked about a lot. 29 sit ups (rest in up position), 25 pushups (same rest), 1.5mi run under 16.28 and a 300m dash in 1.11 (3/4 of a standard High School track).

It was a dream of mine when I was 16. So much so that I joined the Grand Prarie PD Explorer program. All was great in the GPPDE and I was having lots of fun learning and getting a head start on becoming an LEO until the day that PE class in high school had us students bench press their max weight. I couldn't bench the fucking bar and all my hopes of becoming an LEO were shattered that day. I knew at that moment that if I can't bench the bar, there was no way I could physically restrain someone bigger than I. Don't know why I felt compelled to post this, I guess just reading this thread reminded me of who I wanted to be.

Anyhow, good luck again to those looking for a career in law enforcement.
