What test I applied for that one as well? I haven't heard anything lol it still says reviewing application as well. I guess I'm shit out of luck.

A couple of weeks after I applied it updated to say my app. had been approved to take the skilled craft battery test for the job. I had like 2 or 3 weeks to go take the test, which you find out right away if you passed or not. Then a few weeks later, maybe even a month, it updated to say my app. had been approved for an interview session. Which could take 6 months depending on how many openings there are and how many people pass the test. I applied for it on July 9, took test Aug 13, approved for interview around middle of Sept. You have to be patient!

For the guys that work there I have a question. My status went from waiting for an interview session back to qualified on test?! Although I went and looked at the job postings and the posting is different. The pay has gone up and the position title changed wording. Although the apprentice diesel electrician position is open again in Ft. Worth. Would y'all recommend I apply for it just to get in the door?

Good luck what job do you currently do?

Mention that you've been active in safety and or you have been trained in a safety aspect. Either way mention safety somewhere in the interview process.

Also mention that you have worked in tight spaces before if you can or if they ask.

Honestly thats probably the only reason why I got the job mentioning both those things.

Damn - Congrats - That took quite a long time. What was the total time? 7-8 months?

Yeah 7 months, I applied in July last year. I figured safety would be a big concern for the interviewers. Honestly my current job has nothing to do with electricity. I have been out of the field for a few years. I got laid off a couple of times and took a job with a state hospital because it was a couple of miles from the house, a steady paycheck, and it paid better than unemployment.

The test has different parts to it. It has sections on listening to instructions, math, tools, electronics/electricity, and I think reading comp. The test isn't that bad and you find out right away if you pass or fail.

Good luck once you get past that. I didn't end up getting the job at the hiring session Tuesday.

The interview process wasn't bad. They make it sound terrible, cause being at the bottom of the totem pole you will have crappy days off, you'll be working just about all holidays, and you'll be on evening or night shift. The guys I interviewed against all had more time in the field than me and bachelor degrees, I only have an associates. I was not as qualified as them. They were looking for 5 people and there were 15 there for the interviews.

I should have put in for the apprentice job, but it wasn't open when I originally applied.
