  • who has dressed nicely and gone door to door?

meaning dressed nice, taken your resume, and actually walked into employers (retail) asking about job openings? Thinking about doing this, not sure the success rate though.

Face to face is the only way to go. I hate when people are too lazy to actually come in and apply for a job and instead, call me. I've never called and asked if someone was hiring. I show up in a shirt and tie and have had no problem getting a job that I wanted.

Most of those type of businesses will direct you to a kiosk to fill out an online app anyway...I thing for the most part, the days of walking door to door are gone. I remember doing that once a long ago though.

            Good luck though

This or website. Alot of sites do not even have a hiring manager or HR on the premises

And those fucking personality quizzes. I fucking hate those things. I'm an asshole IRL, but I know how to tone it down so that I can keep food on the table and not "bite the hand that feeds me." What's really bad is when they ask the same question twice. Do they not expect people to pick up on that shit?

You'd be surprised. It is also used to pick off the dumb liars.

i dressed up nice and went to different places, ended up walkin right in a job......they were needing one more person to help their wholesale dept and i had all the right training to fit in prefect.

not always bad to go door to door.
making more then i was at the last job that laid me off.

Years ago I walked in to a discount tire to fill out an app. Got the app. filled it out, handed it back, and as I turned to walk out the manager asked me if I could start in the morning.
This last time I went looking for work, I had to know someone in the company to expedite my online app. It's getting harder and harder to get a job.
                      Good luck man.

i really wouldnt waste your time going door to door. most places have to hire through corporate which requires all the online application bs background checks etc. maybe a family owned small business or something but a large retail chain you would be better off applying online. lowes off of 287 in mansfield is hiring and all the home depots will be hiring for spring. you wont get rich there but if you can save a few thousand you can put it to work. its not how much you make its what you do with the money you make.
