  • Portable AC units

My parents have a lakehouse out in east Tx and the AC doesnt work... Its not very big (we call it "the room") Bottom floor is basically your average fox&jacobs master bedroom and a little loft above it with a bathroom.. The AC has a pretty big leak and dad doesnt wanna spend 3k replacing it.. My question is has anyone had any luck with the portable AC units that home depot sells or do they suck..

Shouldn't cost over 750 to replace it.
Don't worry about what you can't change.
Do the best you can with what you have.

That's weird that an HOA would let them build what's equivalent to a 400sqft house, but they are against having window a/c units. Makes perfect sense.

Why not one of those hotel/motel wall units? I have one in my office (25 x15 converted rear patio) that will freeze your balls off on low.

I did see that but its a low wall unit and could easily be disguised with framing or landscaping if on the rear of the house.

I figured they would look at it as the same thing. While not technically protruded out of a window, it will noticeable.

Probably should just fix the unit at the cheapest possible cost. Not good to let homes just set in the summer heat IMO.

Sorry to bring up an old subject (I normally just browse pic/video forum), but the service tech that works for my faimly a/c business lives in hlr and he sometimes does sidework. His name is Tony Max Bailey Jr, have them try him and maybe he can help them out.
