  • Alley easement

Anyone here have one or know someone with an easement behind their house? It's not a alley because it closes off behind my yard so they call it an easement. Am I able to fence it off as long as I provide a vehicle gate for utilities or cable companies to access the area??

I have one. The city won't care, utility just needs access. It's maintained by the homeowners.

Fences are regularly in utility easements. Just be ready for the unlikely event that they have to pull it down and you have to put it back up.

Pretty much what these guys said. There is a utility easement that runs across the back of my property. I have had to call in repairs a few times and nothing was said by the utility companies.

Ours is in the front yard, shared by myself and my neighbor. No one around here puts up fences in the front yard so access is no big deal. The only thing we have to do is mow/edge around it.
