  • Home style for weekend home?

I am looking at buying some acres in WV and eventually building a house on it. It would be for the weekends until my job makes the full transition to telework. I've looked at several styles online and wanted to see if anybody had real world experience with any of them. So far I've looked at:

Dome Style House - this style looks good for security and efficiency. The cost is the same as construction of a conventional house

Pole Barn house - this appears to be lower in cost, but I'm not sure how efficient it would be.

Metal Home - this style doesn't appear to have any advantages over a conventional house.

    Any input is appreciated.

We're looking to do something similar, but in tx, in the next few years. I want to do one of these: http://texasbarndos.com

My wife and I both want some land and I have tried to convince her this is the way to go. It would be our primary residence. She isn't convinced yet

Metal buildings/pole barns have been discussed on Texasbowhunter a lot and there really isnt a cost savings between a traditional stick frame house and a metal building except possibly the exterior. Dome houses look ridiculous and I wouldnt consider one.
