We will be in our current home, at least another 2-3 years. We haven't made a final decision on where we want our son to go to school, but the odds are we will be moving in the next 5 years.
We are trying to make the most of the space we have and the 2 areas that are the worst/most cramped are the master suite and the utility room. Our master closet isn't very large, I've got about 6' along the outside wall for closet rods and about 3' along the back wall. We also have a small relief to the right as you enter the closet that is 12-18" deep and 2-3' wide. Our closet rods are full, we have shit stacked all in the floor, and the shelves that are currently in the niche aren't very optimal.
Has anyone used any organizer systems, built, or had something installed to optimize this space? If so, what worked and what didn't?
Things we have identified that we need:
Shoe rack for her shoes
belt/tie storage
some way to integrate more hanging rod space
Has anyone had any success installing anything on the back of the closet door? I would like to stay away from anything that hangs over the top of the door in the jamb space, as this type of stuff ALWAYS causes issues. I'm thinking an organizer for ties and belts on the closet side of the door.
The niche would probably be the best space for the shoe racks. I'm not sure how many pairs she has, we currently have a pre-fab 8 cube unit that is full, and a stack of shoes in a couple of locations. I can probably build something in that space that will do what I want it to.
Is there anything that you guys found useful? Waste of space/$$$?
