I'm confused. All you need to do is either:

    a) splice into the back of an existing, nearby outlet (preferably in the same wall cavity) or
    b) cutout where you want the new outlet to go, run the wire into the attic, and then cut/splice the wire in a box with cover there.

All you should need is a retrofit box (drywall anchored), outlet, cover plate, junction box, wire nuts, romex.

If you're doing a thin mount and want the TV to sit as close to the wall as possible, be sure to grab a recessed clock plug instead of a regular outlet.

Just look for a junction box in the attic and splice into it. If you cant find one, then just find an wire that has some slack (this is important) cut it in half and tie both sides with your new wire in with some wire nuts.

        Supplies:
        Romex
        Old work outlet box
        junction box (with cover)
        electrical outlet
        wire nuts
        screws (mount the junction box)
junction box clamps (if you use a steel box)

Took your idea Juice. The wall that I have the TV on has fire blocks and I didn't feel like cutting 2 more big holes to run my wire down in the dry wall. But the good news is, the section i put my outlet in doesn't contain any fire blocks so it dropped right into the existing outlet. It is all done...

What I didn't do and will have to go change is the outlet like Texas Pyro said. My TV is now close to the wall with the low profile mount and so I need to change from regular outlet to the recessed one.

          Thanks everyone for your help!
