I don't do all that. I use scotts all through the year. I've personally never seen a need for pre-emerge on the yard the yard I have now. If I put it put once in late winter and then again in 3-4 weeks, it's grows like CRAZY all through summer.
Only downside is mowing twice a week (occassionally 3) kinda sucks though.Vortex rear stand $75

you can get (sometimes) with it on an exceptionally thick st. aug. yard, not so much on bermuda, pre emerge now, then fert, and insecticide, around 1st of april, you can go out in mid march i just like to be past as much of the freeze"s as i can before really trying to grow in a lawn.

I think I'm going to throw some pre-emergent down (though it may not do any good since I didn't pre-emerge in the fall). I think most of the extreme temps are behind us.
I have to tackle nutgrass this year. I sod cut, tilled up, and got rid of the old St. Augustine. I seeded Bermuda, and let it grow. I didn't put anything but fertilizer on it last year, and most of that was a starter fertilizer. No other chemicals, because I didn't want to kill off the new grass. So this year, my goal is to rid all the nutgrass that popped up after tilling the entire yard.Originally posted by BradMBut, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.Originally posted by LeahIn other news: Brent's meat melts in your mouth.

Mowing was the biggest PITA. I have 5 brown bags filled with dead grass...
I may try the pro-emergent also. I noticed quite a bit of weeds while mowing the other day... I really need to aerate too, ugh..Originally posted by Cmarsh93zDon't Fuck with DFWmustangs...the most powerfull gang I have ever been a member of.

I just meant it might not make the difference I'm hoping for, because I didn't put any down in the fall of last year. The shit that's coming in now, should have been treated with pre-emerge in the fall, right?
I don't have much crabgrass, goosegrass, etc. I do get some occasional clover, but it's not a lot, and it's not often. Most of what I get is purple flowered henbit and nutgrass/nutsedge. I do have a dallisgrass problem in the parkway, but I haven't really tried to do anything about it either, other than pull it when I see it. My parkways need some dirt work, I'll probably do the same thing there that I did with the rest of the yard last year. i actually missed by about 2 weeks, i am covering with a post emerge also with the pre, usually try to do a split application for the spring/summer weeds, shoot for around valentines day and easter(either pre m or barricade), thats about a 6 week window which is what you want. then again somewhere in september with prodiamine (barricade), and if it stays warm enough i put down a half rate of simizine in december.
