  • Anyone ever replace the subwoofer in your home system?

I have a Vizio sound bar / detached wireless subwoofer setup in my living room. I really liked my old Onkyo sub more. Is that a way to disassemble the vizio sub and just take the receiver out of it and attach to the Onkyo sub?

Or secondly take the cheap stock speaker out and upgrade it to a better woofer?

Anyone done this type of thing before?

No. In most cases, wireless subs have the receiver integrated into the amp. Or will sometimes be built into the speaker basket itself. Sound bar wireless subs are made on the cheap. They are just there to enhance the mid range you obviously lack from the tiny 1"-2" speakers in the sound bar.

The only real option would be to use a Rocketfish or Outlaw OAW3 wireless subwoofer transmitter/receiver kit to integrate your Onkyo sub. Providing that you have RCA out on the sound bar, which I doubt.

if i theoretically left both woofers out or built a box to contain both, couldnt i use the speaker wires from the wireless and use some kind of adapter to make it plug into the speaker input port on the larger powered sub?

I would look for a solution that doesn't involve cannibalizing your current subs. I don't think you would be happy with the results.
