  • Experienced Pool Guys - Jet/Inlet Fittings ?

I'm trying to install a pool cooler to take the water temps down - I'm reading 91/92 degrees currently. I need to put the piece into one of the side jet fittings. The problem is, I can't figure out how to get these fittings unscrewed. It looks like there might be a special tool that fits these by looking at the raised pieces of plastic on either side. For reference, these fittings are flush with the side of the pool, so getting some sort of plier or vice grips isn't happening.

My buddy has one, it works like a champ. Cools about 10 degrees if you run it a few hours a couple of consecutive nights. His inlet fittings, however, he could just turn by hand to unscrew and attach this:

I thought you were building one of these

DIY Swimming Pool Cooler. : Build a mechanically drafted, counter-flow cooling tower for your swimming pool. These would be especially useful to people living in gulf coast states and the SW deserts. For more detailed instructions: DIY Pool Cooler

I know Classic in Grapevine remodeled/added Pebbletec before I bought it. I just called them and they said yes, these flush mounted ones are newer. She said you push the right side notch to the left and then twist the left side notch to loosen. We'll see I guess.

Don't take that as fact, I don't even own a pool. The picture is poor but looks like it may work?

Well, they sure as hell aren't turning by hand. They've been in there for years and brittle. As soon as I touched it with a screwdriver it broke off.
Guess I'm calling someone tomorrow to come swap them out with regular jet fittings. Let me know if you recommend anyone in Dallas/Lake Highlands. Thx

                    Hey Jody,
I'm pretty sure this is the tool used to remove those flush mount returns. I cant get them at 1 Stop none of the suppliers have them, these jets are pretty rare. It looks like the flush mounts you have are the standard 1.5" threaded on the backside they could all be swapped to the more conventional style jets cheaply... just need to get the old ones out.

Awesome man, thanks for your help. For that price, I ordered one - much cheaper than having someone come out and replace the jets. We'll see in a few days when it gets here. Thanks again!

My moms was this way growing up. For some reason the last two I have owned stay fairly cool. Of course there's only two of us so not as much water movement. Maybe more water or thicker concrete?
