So I had a couple of trees that I removed. I pulled the stump and all. Do you have to do anything to the hole to kill of the remaining root system? Or do I just fill the whole and move on?

Move on. The root will decay, if you have ground root they will leave void in your ground later on. -

About 8-10in in diameter at the trunk. At some point some one cut them and they grew back weird. Not newly planted trees but pretty good size trunks.Comment

If they are sizable roots it might grow back, or try too. You can get some stump remover and drill holes in the roots, pour the stuff on/in it and it helps it rot away faster.Comment

Just hire someone or rent a stump grinder, I had half a dozen or so done for less than $100.Comment
