  • Bagworms...

I know it's too late to spray for bagworms, so I am trying to cut down as many branches as I can that have the cocoons on them. I can not reach some, as the tree is too damn tall, and all I have is a set of pruning shears, and an 8 foot ladder.

Should I wait till fall and spray some poison on them, or soapy water now? I know once they are in their little fricken shell, it is practically impossible to kill them.

Stinken entire neighborhood is infested with them.

Any advice, or anyone who trims trees on the board?

Get the extended length branch saw and cut the branches. I think they are like $30.

What's the big deal with them? Do they harm the trees or lawn?

If you can reach them to at least rip open the sacks, do it. The wasps will have a buffet.

They'll jill the tree, especially if they go untreated. Each stupid bad can contain 500-1000 eggs, so when they hatch, they come out hungry!

Their crafty little fuckers too, they build the cocoon to look like the tree.

Not my tree, but here is a pick of one.

Kill them with fire! Seriously. Get 20' of conduit. Attach a small coffee can to the end with rags soaked in lighter fluid. Once the web melts the birds and wasps will take care of the rest. Don't use around power lines!!!!

Luckily they are not destroying my trees yet, but they will eventually. No "bags" or webs yet.

Across the street, her tree is getting hammered.

Here is the cocoon in my tree, I have not gotten them all removed. Not even sure if they are active, or all in cocoons now and waiting to hatch.

We had them at my work place. Believe it or not they went with something that was fed to the trees. They didn't want to spray pesticides. Took months to start seeing them thin out but bout a year later they were all gone. That was 3ish years ago.
