  • weed whacker electric?

I'm needing one and just don't know what is good and what is trash. 2-stroke is OK but a 4 would be best for the same gas as my husq mower. Price point would probably be 100ish. So I assume the 4-cycles are out.

How decent are lithium grass trimmers? My yard doesn't require a lot of run time. Medium sized.

Ryobi would nice only because my last trimmer was a ryobi. I have an edger and leaf blower attachment for it. Are there other better brands that will except those attachments?

    Thanks

Personally I would try to find a straight shaft 2 cycle. You might be able to pick up a used echo or something along those lines for that budget.

4 cycle = heavy and can't be flipped over to edge etc.

I've never used an electric weedeater that was worth a damn. My parents refuse to go gas and they usually burn up an electric each summer. I tried to give them my old gas trimmer and they wouldn't take it.

2 cycle is absolutely fine. mixing the gas sucks but I just mark the cans "weedeater", "blower", etc.

I have a Husqvarna that has been pretty great so far. It even fits my old edger attachment from a weedeater I used to have.

I have a electric craftsman I'll sell you cheap with a bunch of replacement spools and such. Used it once and for my yard it was not going to get the job done. (2 acres)

edit: It gets the job done, but we often have to cut through large clumps of grass and large areas that we can't get to with the mowers...etc. With a larger lawn you have to go too slow in these difficult areas for the weight savings to make a difference.

Really?!?! I had a 4 stroke Ryobi. It was fine I guess but it might have lasted < 2 years. It finally quit on me...I wonder if that's why... I always flipped it over to edge.

IMO, 2 stoke is easier to maintain. One less tool to change the oil.

I love my Echo 2 stroke. I have a lot of fence line to trim. 1 gallon of gas/oil mix lasts me all year...

Spend a little more on a Stihl. They last a lifetime, seriously. Easy to maintain. Mine starts on first pull every time.

The Stihl 2 stroke is actually the preferred. They discontinued it and finally brought it back due to demand. I picked up a FS90R which is the new model and its great. Definitely not $100

Id go 2 stroke in a heartbeat. Mixing gas is nothing. 1 or 2 gallon gas can and 1 or 2 little bottles of oil. Its simple.

Lith battery replacement and string are cho cho. I just bout a ryobi ( 40 minutes last the battery) was stronger then my gas powered wacker. Cordless suck unless you have two batteries. But saves on gas, oil and plugs. I looked for a battery with a longer run time which was mo money. But has been good so far.

I will be going the battery/electric route next just to try them out. Havent been able to kill my 2-stroke yet though. I have a corded electric blower that I hate draggin the cord out for, but the thing was cheap 10 years ago and will not die. Lol. I want to go battery with it too. Hell I may even try the battery mower at some point.
