So this weeks stay-cation has been all about getting settled in the new pad. Fix the pool light, cleaned up some stains, painted the garage, etc etc. I want to get some music outside and there are a ton of ways to do this. I'm looking for the budget friendly set up that I can upgrade later if need be. Amazon of Craigslist type deals. Any folks here have any specific suggestions on speakers, receiver, or package?

Would it matteron quality if your upgrading later. Will the neighbors mind loud music. I dont play mine even alittle loud. I found mine at a garage sale for 10 bucks. Sound ok.

I bought a pair of Yamaha outdoor speakers and tied them into the home stereo system through a splitter. Cheap and easy.

I have Mirage outdoor speakers. They are a little muddy sounding under the patio but sound better out in the yard.

I have this amp that has 2 auto switching inputs:

I have some simple outdoor speakers connected to it. One input is connected to the outdoor TV and the other hangs loose to plug in a phone/ipod for music. I wish it had bluetooth for that, but oh well. I've had this unit connected as such outside for almost 10 years, and it works great.

I like those rock speakers.. Sound quality probably isn't the best out there though.

I saw a pretty cool setup at Lowes. Basically it was normal lights for your backyard paths, with speakers inside them. I believe it was all wireless as well. I think it was $150. Can't remember the name or find it on the Lowes website.

                edit: here it is

I've got the Yamaha outdoor speakers running through zone b of the receiver, using a Rocketfish wireless transmitter, instead of running wires. All you need is an outdoor power outlet. I would have preferred to run wires, but the receiver is on an interior wall, that's near impossible to get to in the attic.

It wasn't that bad. I used the existing surround sound wires to pull the new wire up for the outdoor speakers. It was a long time ago so I can't explain exactly how I made it work (or remember) but it did work. The only tough part was towards the edge of the roof, it got a little cramped.

I've run cable to through other parts of the house, but this particular location presents a high risk of falling through the ceiling, and there was nothing pre-run. This wireless option works great for those too lazy to get in the attic, or have a tough to get spot like I did.

I've got wireless HDMI for the TV in that same location as the reciever, didn't want to dick with getting a cable run.
