I bought this place about a month ago and have finally got around to addressing the pool stains. The vitamin c test was successful so j bought some ascorbic acid and metal free etc. the staining was pretty extensive. In my opinion, the previous owners may have left leaves in the pool for extended periods of time. As far as the treatment, its been twelve hours and I see a vast improvement but there is plenty of stains left. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I did an acid wash on my pool couple of years ago for same issue.
They only do so much before you get down to damaging the surface/plaster, some areas will be weaker or thinner than others. Some areas stains will lighted up better then others.
I still have some discoloration in the bad areas and was told that is as good as it gets without redoing the plaster or surfacing.WRX

The prior owners daughter had parties for two years at my house. The idiots left bottle caps and other assorted shit in there, and left four pretty good rust stains. Chlorine tabs did ok, wire brush decent, pumice stone did fair. One stain was bad enough I wore a slot in the plaster without realizing it. I just gave up and clean them up at the beginning of the year. They don't bother me and have no affect on the water so screw it. Ignorant ass twenty year olds!Whos your Daddy?
