phone jack in first one... 30 amp 125 volt circuit in the second (like a clothes dryer or fridge outlet).

Is outlet close to a window? I would guess AC unit.

I haven't seen one of those type phone jacks in a long time. Brings back some memories actually.

As for the outlet, just because the outlet says it's 120V doesn't necessary mean it is. Check the voltage on the wiring to be certain.
