Well with all the lawn issue pics i've been seeing around, post up some of your pics of how well your grass is doing. I moved into a house that had nothing but weeds and stickers with no trees etc... You could not go outside barefoot and my dogs kept crying when the stickers would get stuck in between their paws. So last year in June I tilled up the old stuff and posted some pics with the progress on here and laid celebration bermuda sod.
    Before (Tilled):

In March, I put my mower and the lowest setting and chopped the bermuda almost down to the dang roots, laid some Scotts weed and feed and planted some stuff in the backyard to spruce it up a bit. April I put down another round of weed and feed and wow is all i can say. The bermuda is so damn soft and love the way it looks. With all this rain i havent had to water much either. I tilled up my front yard, picked up the rocks, and leveled it out. I am having the grass company deliver the same sod next Saturday. Cant wait!

          This.

I need to do both the front and back, too. Back, first, but I need a new fence first. I don't want to go talk to my neighbors, though. They seem nice enough, but I feel like they're not going to pony up to split the cost of the fence.

Great looking lawn, yards take forever to turn-around, but patience is the virtue. Our front yard is back to near perfect a year after moving in, but there are still some trouble spots in the back.

Thanks guys, yeah the dogs love it and my daughter can go out with no shoes on and run around. Saturday came and both of my neighbors were out of town. So i got to lay 4 pallets of sod by myself WITHOUT A FREAKIN WHEEL BARROW...but it is done.

What the front looked like before we moved in 2 years ago. Little progress here and there, but it has definately made it look 10x better.

Looking good! I need to scrape my back yard and start over with a fresh grade and sod, but the expense just isn't in the budget. Even with my connections I am looking at 2-3k just to do the back yard. I have shifted focus to the front and side yards for now. Working on curb appeal. I started last fall nursing the existing bermuda along. It is not flat by any means, and a couple of spots that need to be raised up to eliminate standing water. Here is what it looked like last weekend.

It has been a lot of hard work but it is very rewarding and finally working on something that is mine! Plenty of dirt work left, but with the rain, it is hard to do!

Can you just slowly add dirt onto the low spots over time, without cutting out the sod / grass? I was wondering that he other day, as I have a few (minor) low spots. I was thinking if I just sprinkle in a couple shovel's full worth of dirt every other week, over time it may build back up?

I'm sure there is some flaw there in my thinking, though.

I get a pickup load of dino dirt at a time from denton and fill level my yard. I put one whole load in one spot about 10 feet wide 6 or so inches deep and you wouldnt believe how fast the grass spread and filled it in. Its very rich dirt and will make your yard healthier if you just randomly spread it thru out.

Yes, just use sand and or sandy loam. Don't use anything that gets hard packed when dry. Grass will grow right through most sandy soils.
