  • Door replacement?

My house has the original shitty metal door with a glass window leading into the backyard. My wife wants a screen door on the back, as well, so I figured I'd just get it all done at once. I think my main concern is that the door casing, threshold, and jamb are in bad shape, and they used some sort of weird metal weather stripping that has worn out and needs to be replaced because it's letting outdoor air in and indoor air out.

Generally, to retrofit the door with a decent one, add a screen door, and re-do the casing, jamb, and threshold, how cost- and time-intensive is it to get all of this done? Anyone know someone reputable and reasonably priced in the Frisco area?

i'll be doing exactly this here in the next couple of months. the house has a dog door on the bottom of the door to the backyard which our now 4month old pup has outgrown.

    god bless.

I'm not doing it myself, I'm looking for someone to do it, and Haltom City is nowhere near Frisco.

Keep an eye on residential construction sites. Find a trim carpenter and offer him $50 and a sixer of modelo...

            so you think...

Resdoor in Ft Worth who sells doors and interior trim is cheaper than them. I remember looking at some knotty alder wood doors. $600 at Builders Surplus, $450 at Resdoor.
