  • Smell in the bathroom?

New house has a moldy/mildew smell in the master bath but only after you take a shower. There's no sign of water leaking anywhere that can be seen around the shower, tub, toilet, walls, or anywhere. Floor is all tile and there are 2 small (quarter size) square holes in opposite corner walls of the bathroom towards the floor but just above the tile where they didn't put drywall for some reason. No water has gotten into either of these holes to cause standing water but that's the only place I can think of a smell coming from.

What's the best way to find out if there's a leaky pipe or standing water somewhere behind a wall?

I bet it's the drain in your bath/shower. Draino/bleach/router snake.

With great restraint I have not posted a poo picture and asked if that was your problem. Besides that, all I can fir a quality post is this: boiling water, draino and a router snake. Not sure I would mix bleach with draino without being able to flush it real well between the two chemicals.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

If you go after the drains, I had really good success with the hair and grease stuff in the black bottle

What are the chances of that being the issue with a brand new shower/tub combo?

You never know what the guy who put it all together ate that day. He could have taken your shitter for a quality control test drive.

With a tile floor, the curb is probably tile too correct? I have sewn some instances where water has made its way under the tile and caused that smell. Most commonly due to the tile not being sloped to the drain properly. If the curb (the raised portion that your enclosure sits on) is tile it is VERY common for the grout to crack and fall out from under the top tile, allowing watr to make its way back there. You mentioned holes, it isn't typically required to have weep holes in a full tile shower. We only have them when we have a fiberglass pan. Out tile showers start with a fiberglass liner. It is laid on the slab and ~12" up the shower walls. Then dense shield is put in and we tile on top of that.

Stop showering so much! Jk... You don't have any floor drains do you.. Also a heat lamp will help if you leave it on while you shower.. Basically anything you can do to get the moisture out ASAP after long durations of running water

This. We stress to our homeowners the importance of using their exhaust fan.
