Im on the fence on whether or not to build a workshop out back. I have an acre of land in nice community and there are several homes that have workshops out back. Sizes range from 30x40 mostly and vary up and down.
Im looking to build a 30x30 with driveway connection from my existing driveway. Make it a place to store an extra project car, work on wood stuff and keep tools. Not to mention a man cave type place
Problem is, with the cost being around 20k, my concern is if it will help resale value at all? Ive researched some online but havent seen much on workshops specifically. Being in the neighborhood Im in, Id think the workshop would help the house sell quicker but would it add value to what we could ask for the house? I wouldnt expect to get all my money back from it but dont think id spend 20k on a man cave space if i knew I was never going to get any return on it later.
Thoughts from anyone with resale knowledge or whos listed a house with extras like this? Im hoping its not like a pool that doesnt add much value but is an incentive for buyers.
