Builder recommendations?

We are looking to possibly build a house. My parents are selling their house looking to downsize and my house fits the bill perfectly for them. They are wanting to buy my house and loan us the cash to build on our other property.

Anyone have a builder recommendation on the N. Ft Worth, Keller area? Im not looking for a $150/ft house. Honestly would love to be at $75 a foot. There is a chance I may just owner build it and contract it myself.

DFWImproved has good marks. I've not used them mind you, but they are on the list to get a bid from when I start building.

The guys that built my shop also occasionally do homes. I believe that's actually where they got their start and eventually moved into the metal building business b/c it's a better margin and less headache for them.

That being said, I know that they built 2-3 houses last year, and one of them was for one of our old neighbors that decided to move out on some land near Decatur. I've seen their house, and it turned out really nice....a lot of stone work inside & out, 8' interior doors, and custom touches throughout. It appeared to me that there was a lot more attention to detail than what you'd expect from a volume builder...which I think is a benefit using a builder that doesn't do as many houses all at once.

You might give them a call, it couldn't hurt to ask them about it.

I am... but this time, Im not doing much work. I work 3 days a week and would really like to save the money and contract it myself. If its a true 10% for a builder, I wouldnt mind paying the $30k. I have read way to many forum threads and now a book about how builder say 10% and end up at 25%
