Where can I get a 1-1 1/2 thick 18inch wide 50 plus inch piece of wood? I made my wife a lot shaped kitchen nook* and can't manage to finish the top, HD only sells 11 inch wide wood and I have tried cutting and trying to glue 2 pieces together but that didn't work out so good.

Any particular wood? Are you painting or sanding it?

Why did the glue not work? An 18" board is going to bow, check, and crack pretty damn bad.

Use 3/4" plywood and trim the edges with solid wood.

The depot and Lowes both sell edge glued craft board that will work but its pine and should be finished well to prevent cracking and warpage.
