Love 'em. Not much for the "fake wood" look ones they have (my wood cabinets are all real wood). But the glossy ones are nice!
Good to know. We're trying to decide what we want to do in our kitchen, and Ive eyefucked those several times.

The alternative to making it look like the rest of the house is go all the way to joists and put up 16ft pinewood. I'm thinking that would be pretty costly from a tear out standpoint and cheap from a build standpoint. Kitchen is about 22 x 15

Nothing to it put to do it. The only issue is that the base cabinets will have the original substrate possibly.

Are you sure your tile isn't installed on top of the original hard wood?

We're doing our house in tile that looks like wood. I've looked at a ton of after pics from tile people, on the web, etc. Some look great and some look like shit. To me, the grout lines make or break it.

My dog would kill real wood with his nails. This house is also going to be a rental, so it was all about durability and minimal maintenance. They're not for everyone, but I think they're perfect in this situation. My opinion is subject to change entirely when they go down in a couple weeks, lol.
