I would normally recommend looking at Highland, but we don't build on any lots that big. All of our stuff is 50-60' lots

Another vote for Our Country Homes, used then back in 2012 for a custom build I helped design. They are open to your ideas, plans. We wanted a spiral stair case, over sized garage, etc... Everybody went as planned and the house turned out like we wanted, exactly.

Zero issues in 2.5 years also.

My house is a Lennar, 2,000 sqft with a little over 1/3 of an acre lot. Cost was right at $97/sqft.

Our lot is easily 2x the size of other lots in the neighborhood.

My mom built a home using Our Country Homes. She has had so many issues we just don't know if it was a shitty job on this one house or if they are all like that. Of course the models are nice, wish she had no problems because before she built I really liked them. I like Drees the best

I'm thinking we'll end up probably getting some land, and building a shop/barndomonium first. Maybe a small 2 bedroom apartment attached to a big garage/shop. Once it's done we'll move in, and start designing our final house. Then turn the first one into a shop apartment/guest house, etc.

Like any house... its only as good as its contractors. They use multiple contractors for each phase of building. The key is watching like a hawk while building and hoping you know what you are looking at or have a great realtor.
