Soundbar with video pass through/switching?

My in-laws are looking for a soundbar for their bedroom. I'm not a big fan, but they don't want to run surround speakers, and they don't want a full sized receiver on their smallish shelf under the TV. The bar would be mounted to the wall just like the TV is.

They are old school, so they need one that has RCA inputs (including video) for their VCR and preferably a pair of RCA audio outputs for his giant wireless headphones. The TV has three HDMI inputs and one Optical output, but nothing to support RCAs in or out.

For the Uverse and Bluray player, I can run that signal via HDMI to the TV, and then run the optical output to the soundbar.

OR, if the soundbar has the capability, it would be cool to run all of my signals directly into it and just run video out from there to the TV via HDMI. Essentially, this would use the soundbar as a receiver. Does such an animal exist?

I enjoy that forum, but I rarely post for that reason. I wasn't able to find a sound bar or wireless surround that had what you were asking for, specifically.

Doesn't appear that this has any outputs at all,so it definitely won't work.

Ya, I don't think that will work either. It has RCA inputs, but no outputs. I can't figure out how the converter would do anything for me, either.

It's looking like a traditional receiver will be the only way to go.

There's definitely cheaper options than the one I suggested. This one was just mid-range priced, and I like Yamaha.

That won't really help me. I need one set of RCA outputs (just audio) from the sound bar for the wireless headphones, and it would be nice to also have another set of RCA outputs (audio and video) to the VCR. This crazy old dude still records things to VHS. Stuck in his ways. I'm not worried so much about converting the RCA outputs from the VCR to HDMI, but I guess I could if needed. But that doesn't solve the other two issues, and I figure if I can find a sound bar with RCA outputs, it would hopefully have inputs, too.

I'm a Yamaha fan, too. They don't need anything that performs best in its class or anything. It's more about the inputs and outputs.
