Bump for updates
Originally posted by dewayne6243 View PostI built a 60x60 last year. First pass on Meuller. There prices are not even competitive. I went with Nucor building. Very good people and if you have an issue they will even come by and take a look. 4" slab is way to thin. Won't support an automotive lift if you plan on ever installing one. I went with 6" with 12"x30" beams. I went extra thick where the main metal beams bolt down on the slab. If you were closer my concrete guy could hook up up. I paid $3.40 turn key for my slab. Twice as strong as my house slab.
I am looking for a slap quote for 24'x44' at 6". We are looking to do a stick/brick build. Will also need a drive poured 20'x approximatley 40'Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

I just want to say if anyone is thinking of building reaaaaally do your homework. I built a 42x50 6 months ago and even eneded up with the guy that was the second highest bid because of all the quality that was talked up to me. I bought it hook line and sinker.
As soon as the spring storms started my building leaked bad. I mean water just pores in. About a month later the concrete started to crack and has not stopped cracking. I know concrete cracks but this is not normal. Nothing has moved becuase there is a lot of steel in it but the nothing like spending 45K for new driveway and building with cracks all over in 6 months.
All I get from the builder is well concrete cracks don't worry about it. On the leaking he says its the subs fault the way he did the gutters. After 2 months of bugging the sub came out one Saturday while I was at work and fixed the problem. I got home that night and not damb thing was different.
I can't even get a final invoice out of the guy. All I have is my cancelled checks. I told my wife he told me he has the final invoice here is the final check. DO NOT give him the check until he gives it to you (my warm and fuzzy about him had already worn off at the end of the build long before the problems started showing up) Well somehow he conviced her he had the invoice but forgot it and promised to bring it the next day. She gave it to him And here we are almost 6 months later I don't have my invoice.
I will not share the company yet do to legal action I am about to have to take but do your homework and don't pay feaking dime to anyone until things are exactly what you agreed to.

Sorry for the unusually long time before I had pictures. only a few weeks still school starts back up so I've been busy trying to get all my "to do" things done. Heres a few pics I took and some from today. I saw one very small crack in the concrete but I live a few blocks from the lake so the sandy soil is everywhere and I expected a few cracks. I was very happy with my builder. the same guys that do the contract do the work and they did a great job. I would have rather had two different sets of purlin around the outside to support it but its all about cost. I've already got the steel to do my loft which will be the back half of the shop then I'm doing 1" rigid foam insulation so that will help seal it up tight and make it a lot stronger. I haven't had one leak in the shop but don't have my gutters up yet either. I've had a little dirt wash away but I'm going to bring some more in and fix that once I get my gutters in. We did the floors ourselves with the HD stuff so we'll see how long it lasts. Heres a few pics. I would recommend both my builder and garage door guy, they both did a good job as far as I'm concerned.
Before the pour

the view from my back porch, one of my wifes rules was it needed to be camouflage (excuse the burn pile....we need rain!)

Looks great man. I like your property. I wished we could have found a place like that when we were home shoping.
I have not abandoned all hope of my shop plans. Just trying to win the lottery and / or praying the market will turn around. Do you anyplans for windows? How much lighting to do you have?
I see you have skylights. How much do they add?Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

just curious does anyone know some companies if i was wanting to do a 210 x 110 building? also what is an expected price on something like this? on a project this big would it be a one stop shop as far as concrete, building, ac, ect..? my wife and i have kicked the idea around of starting a company and this is about the size of the building we would need to do what we are wanting. thanks in advance.

other problem is it has to be the correct location or its pointless.
was considering one of those canvas buildings too but i have no idea what those run...

If you need a higher rated foundation/slab for equipment, ceiling height, etc. You need it clear spanned or can you run a support down the center? You need 3 phase electric? Lots of variable in a building, number of doors, 18 wheeler loading docks, etc.
Cheaper to buy one already built a lot of times. We have a old building that would cost twice to build what it cost to buy due to current steel prices/crete pricing, and land where the building is.
You should be able to find a place that would do it all, dirt, crete, erection. I can speak on the quality of this companies buildings as I know of one. specsmith.com
