receiver and speaker suggestions

I need a receiver for my record player. I was using an old AIWA from late 90's but the volume knob no longer works.
I'm also looking for some tall speakers, but I figure I could get those from a garage sale pretty easy. I was using an old 5.1 set with only 3 remaining speakers lol.

I don't need a top of the line receiver, just something that'll work. Anyone know of any good deals this weekend?

With any new receiver, you'll have to buy a separate phono pre-amp to go in line between the turntable and the receiver.

Those speakers should do you well for what you are doing. I'd still recommend a subwoofer, especially since that Sony has outputs for two.
