I see the link but there are a lot of options on that page.

It looks like you just used a sealer with no anti skid. I thought most sealers have to be laid down again every couple of years where an epoxy is forever.

I like the idea of tinted sealer because of its ease but would be curious to see how it looks.

Mine is a product from garage journal and couldn't be happier. Car is parked on it daily and there is no sign of any damage.

Just had mine done at the new house. He used a little bit cheaper material, but it came out nicely. He did two coats of SW Tile Clad HS 2-part epoxy and one coat of Rexthane clear. It's still curing, so I haven't checked it out too closely yet, but will by Wednesday or so. This pic was before the clear.

Thanks guys! I haven't made much progress on the shop in the past few weeks...the floor is the last thing I've done other than move a few things in....I've just been bogged down with other things, about the whole past month. I'm planning to get the lift stood up this coming weekend, it's been sitting out on the trailer the past couple weeks...was hoping to do it last weekend, but none of my help was available. Hoping for some better weather this weekend so I can start getting my other equipment moved in too. I'll post some more updates before long.

Thanks Scott. It's been a long time coming man...I'm ready to get working in there now, I've got 3 projects in line already.

I did quite a bit of research before-hand...probably obsessed on it a little, honestly. I learned that the clear top coat is really dependent on the type of material you choose...the 3 most common are solids-based, solvent-based, and water-based. If you use a water-based epoxy like U-Coat-It, you should budget for a top coat, and you can also have the top coat tinted to match your base color...that way you will have the gloss but also avoid any yellowing over time. I learned that most of the standard clear top coats aren't UV resistant, so they will start to yellow over time if not tinted. There are some offered that are UV resistant, but they do cost a bit more.

I think the biggest thing is to determine how you are going to use (or abuse) the floor. From what I learned the water-based products aren't as tough in single coat form, more-so intended for typical home garage type applications, so those vendors usually recommend a top coat. The solvent and solids-based products aren't said to require it, but you can certainly add it for added piece of mind, or if you are going for a really high gloss finish. Mine is a solids-base, with no top coat....the vendor said he would sell it to me if I really wanted it, but also said that I really didn't need it.

FWIW - I initially thought I was going to go with U-Coat-It, but after speaking with them and hearing about the need for a top coat, I realized there is more work and time that will go into that....their quote was also over $1600 for everything with the top coat, it's almost as much as the base, so you are buying twice the materials.
