Gas water heater just went out in a rent house we have. Plumber #1 just came out and quoted $1000. Is this high priced, or about average to r&r including the water heater?

How much is tankless? Would you put tankless in a rent house? (3/2 1750 sq feet)

If your the tenant let landlord fix it
If your the landlord shop around that first 1k bid was a bit high, G/L
                Look into getting home warranty

If you want to do it yourself it extremely easy. You can buy shark bite fittings so you don't have to do any thing welding related. I knew nothing about water heaters and replaces mine in a matter of 10 min after draining it.

I just replaced ours, it was $450 for the unit, and not at all difficult to do.
