  • Tree broke in half due to storm, can other half be saved?

Came home to find this half the tree fell down and was wondering do I need to do something to the rest of the tree to protect it from infection or other stuff so it wont die?

Also any reason not to use the broken tree as firewood for winter besides the small size of branch?

Yes that is my driveway and if I would have been home mustang would have been crushed

If it is a Bradford Pear get rid of that fucker now. Those trees are absolutely worthless, and snap if you breathe heavy on them.

Yes, without a doubt. Next time it probably will be on your car. Those things are notoriously weak. I had one at my last house that started doing the same thing.

Pecan trees are handy. Also depending on your electricity provider you might be able to get a free one.

If you want to save the tree, get some pruning paint and cover the exposed area with no bark.

IIRC, Bradford Pear's only have a lifespan of about 15 yrs.

Pecan trees are good but once it's full grown, it will drop these brown wormy looking things every spring. Not a big deal unless you park underneath one of the branches...it's a pain to get them out of the paint (stains when wet) and out of the cowl area.

I have an oak tree (red oak I think)...it's nice but I have to pick up about 10 gallons of acorns every year or else I'll have a million little oak trees sprouting up.

You'll probably have to buy it at a nursery this time of year, since lawn and garden is shrinking at the big box stores. It's also called pruning sealer.
