  • How to protect wood furniture outside

I'm reusing our old oak dining table from our previous house for our back porch. It is currently stained and has poly on it but want to make sure I'm not going to trash it by doing this. It will be under cover all the time so not worried about UV damage but I'm worried about humidity and the occasional storm with lots of wind that may blow rain/moisture under the porch and get the table wet.

Should I strip it down and reseal it with a purpose built product or is it good to go as is?

I used minwax on my grill table and it didn't even last a year.

I used this on my pergola:

Ready Seal? is a professional grade wood sealant that is superior to other sealant products when compared in ease of application, maintenance, and finish.

It's only been a few weeks so I can't comment on it's longevity, but it got great reviews on homedepot.com, it goes on extremely easy, and it's made in Texas.

Stain and outdoor poly will be fine

Make sure to cover all sides however. You don't want to absorb moisture in random regions and start warping the wood.
