I actually took the lights down yesterday, but we had been using them for backyard lighting. Christmas all year long. FTW.

I have three strings of clear Christmas lights on my patio for lighting. I like the lower level of light and the ambiance rather than having some bright light out there. It also saved me from having to buy a few fixtures and then having electrical run to them as well. All around win.

Agreed that's why I put them up in the first place. I want to put in some permanent lighting and fans, but can't figure out exactly what I want.

It is VERY much needed. The concrete get so hot you can't walk on it barefoot. Shingles correct.

I've got these along our patio eve for a more "year 'round" look, as opposed to re-purposing Christmas lights, and we never have the regular patio light on. The tube is attached with c clips, so you can easily swap out colors to suit the ocassion.

Yeah I got several quotes. He wasn't the lowest, but his work looked very good.

FTR, that entire covered patio addition I just did to my house cost about $2500, not including the furniture and hot tub. Thats concrete, labor, wood, shingles, and paint; everything. 11k is fucking HIGH.

FWIW The cost of materials for my cover is nearly triple what you spent.
